Sports Medicine Chiropractor, Dr. John Doepper, DC, Welcomes New Physical Therapist to Capitol Rehab of Winchester

Monday, February 15th, 2010 At 10:29 pm

Dr. John Doepper, leading doctor of chiropractic medicine in Winchester, Virginia, expands medical practice with physical therapist John Hunt, PT

Top Winchester doctor of chiropractic and sports medicine, Dr. John Doepper, DC, has recently announced the expansion of his medical practice with the addition of physical therapist John Hunt, PT, DPT, ATC/L, CSCS. With deep roots in local physical therapy education and practice, Mr. Hunt will serve Capitol Rehab of Winchester patients with a holistic approach to orthopedic care and sports medicine.

“I’m very excited to be joining Dr. Doepper and the staff at Capitol Rehab of Winchester in serving current and new patients who seek the best in physical therapy in our local area,” says Hunt who received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with emphasis in Sports Medicine from Ferrum College in 1994. Following 7 years of self employment, Hunt returned to graduate school to pursue degrees in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.  He graduated from Shenandoah University in 2004 with a Master’s of Science in Athletic Training and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. After graduation, Hunt grew his practice as a Physical Therapist and focused in orthopedic care and sports medicine.

“John’s approach is to treat the person as a whole and not simply treat the symptoms,” says Dr. Doepper, Director and founder of Capitol Rehab of Winchester. “He enjoys the challenges of observing impaired movement patterns that patients present with and developing an individualized comprehensive treatment plan with the goal of restoring optimal functional ability for each patient.”

Hunt is also a professor at Shenandoah University in the Division of Athletic Training. He is an adjunct instructor in the Division of Physical Therapy. As a faculty member he is expected to not only provide care based on current evidence, but also actively participate in clinical research to improve quality of care. Those expectations allow him to utilize the most current treatment options available to physical therapy and athletic training while providing patient care at Capitol Rehab of Winchester.

Local Sports Medicine Doctor Spearheads 21-Day “Purification Challenge”

Thursday, January 28th, 2010 At 9:22 pm

Capitol Rehab of Winchester, a chiropractic and wellness practice successfully treating spinal injuries such as disc protrusions, sprain/strains, sciatic and other forms of radiculitis —  has recently become the center hub for more than eight (8) locals who have come together to kick off a 21-day dietary “purification” program under the leadership of Capitol Rehab Director Dr. John Doepper, DC.

“This purification program will help participants look and feel better,” says Dr. Doepper who is not only leading the challenge but is also journalizing his own purification experience by blogging and posting videos on his practice’s blog. “We know how hard it is to stay motivated on any healthy weight loss program. We developed this idea utilizing the Standard Process Purification Program to make success possible with fun and teamwork approach.” Dr. Doepper adds, “We know that if you are on a program with a support team, success in eminent and failure not an option.”

The foundation of the group’s 21-day purification program includes eating whole, organic, and unprocessed foods; taking whole food supplements; and drinking plenty of water. “You eat vegetables and fruit from days 1-10, with select proteins added at day 11,” says Dr. Doepper. “It’s simple, yet clinically effective.”

Dr. Doepper began blogging his purification experience from day one to provide extra support to the participants of this dietary challenge. “I try to be upbeat and stay supportive,” says Dr. Doepper who shares fun anecdotal quips such as the one he posted for Day 3:

“Day 3 is almost over. My Lab is very happy with the program. She has gone for a long walk/run three days in a row. She is very happy to get out and pleased with me. But then again, Jasmine is always pleased with me. She is always happy to see me and believes everything I do is with uncompromising integrity. When I said to her, ‘I will take you out everyday during this 21 Day Purification Challenge,’ she had no doubt. Well, my goal is to not let her down.”

The purification challenge is now at Day 12 and Dr. Deopper has lost more than eight pounds. Others, too, report positive progress:

Billy Wallace, a purification program participant, recently posted the following on the practice blog:

“Actually enjoying the purification diet. I feel great and have plenty of energy. I am actually eating more than I normally would; the shake for breakfast; packing a healthy lunch; and then having a great dinner. Normally, a breakfast was hit or miss, and lunch was the same. I haven’t missed the coffee; haven’t had any headaches from not having it either. I actually feel as if I am sleeping better through the night.”

Martha, another participant, recently shared:

“I feel better and sleep much better than before. I wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.”

And Michelle, also participating in the purification challenge, says:

“I’ve lost 4 lbs the first week and my skin is softer and not dry.”

Capitol Rehab of Winchester Announces Launch of New Web site

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 At 6:07 am

Capitol Rehab of Winchester, a chiropractic and wellness practice successfully treating spinal injuries such as disc protrusions, sprain/strains, sciatic and other forms of radiculitis — has recently launched its own web site which can be viewed at www.capitolrehabofwinchester.com.

The new site not only provides fundamental information for patients but also incorporates some new features including:

  • new blog dedicated to fitness & health, wellness and nutrition topics in line with a chiropractic lifestyle
  • an e-mail newsletter for patients and friends of Capitol Rehab of Winchester interested in guidance, tips and advice from Dr. John Doepper, DC, Director of Capitol Rehab of Winchester & co-founder of Capitol Rehab Management
  • ability to purchase supplements & related health products securely online via PayPal
  • ability for patients to request appointments online
  • social media sharing capabilities with a strong emphasis on Facebook and Twitter

“We are delighted with our new online presence,” says Dr. Doepper. “Not just for the sake of having a web site but specifically because we believe we’ve set up a strong foundation that aligns very relevantly to the rise of Health 2.0 — a term used to describe the progressive nature of today’s average patients who heavily rely on a variety of media and resources to research disease, treatment, and general health information. The internet is a key component of today’s Health 2.0 patient’s mix.”

health20Another unique aspect of this web launch project is that the chiropractic practice specifically chose a digital marketing service provider to create the new Capitol Rehab of Winchester web site as opposed to a traditional web design shop. “We felt it was important to employ the expertise of not just a web designer or web developer but of a service that fully understands all facets of digital and social media marketing, especially in the health care arena.”

“Our team is extremely proud of this web site launch,” says Mayra Ruiz, founder of Ruiz-McPherson Communications, a digital marketing and social media engagement service based out of Charles Town, West Virginia. “Above and beyond providing Dr. Doepper’s practice with an informative and content-shareable web site, the fact that a local medical practice has gone to such great lengths to integrate many aspects of digital and social media marketing in a holistic fashion has been an exciting endeavor for us to be a part of,” says Ruiz.

Direct-to-consumer (DTC) online information sources indicate consumers are actively searching general health sites, search engines, product sites, pharmaceutical company sites, social networking sites, and blogs/message boards/chat rooms for quality and relevant information pertaining to their health. “Social media has become a chief venue for such information gathering,” says Ruiz, adding that more than 80 million US adults use social media to create or read content on blogs, message boards, chat rooms, health social networks and communities.

“Various recent e-Health-related reports indicate that the consumer market in this space has grown significantly in the past five years, from 90 million consumers online for health in 2004 to nearly 160 million in 2009,” says Ruiz.

Dr. Doepper, an advocate of web 2.0 technologies in support of patient outreach and communications, will utilize his practice’s new web site to improve the quality of health and chiropractic-related communications and share of-value information to his patient base as well as others interested in the benefits of a chiropractic lifestyle.
